how to reboot your life in just a couple of days...

So here’s the good news…

By learning how to actively reduce your stress through everyday routines and practices, you can improve your mental well-being while simultaneously reducing the risk of disease and illness.

Retreats are an invaluable way to reduce stress and unplug from your crazy, rushed life.

Picture this: Wake up to an hour of guided-meditation at sunrise, feel your muscle tension float away with a relaxing yoga class, followed by a dip in the magnesium pool. This tranquil environment gives you a chance to rest your mind and ground yourself back to your natural state.

Numerous scientific studies show the clear benefits of meditation and yoga, ranging from reduced stress, improved concentration, flexibility, immune health and slowed aging. The list goes on and on.

Due to the fast-paced rush of modern life, it’s often easy to not realise HOW stressed you actually are. It isn’t until you take a few days of self-care to feel the weight lifted off your shoulders.

Just a short stay at a retreat will not only leave you refreshed and rejuvenated but can have long-lasting benefits. Qualified massage therapists, motivational speakers, beauticians, yoga teachers and body movement practitioners prepare an experience that teaches you self-care practices and routines that you can apply to your own life to reduce stress and anxiety.

WARNING: Upon finishing your stay at a retreat, you may feel a sense of calmness and clarity. These side effects are NOT temporary and may lead to an improved quality of life.

Is stress bad?

If this gives you mental images of racing against the clock, long traffic jams, and being on the phone to Telstra, you’re totally normal. Here’s something that may surprise you: Stress isn’t inherently evil.

A LONG time ago - a time when humans would actually hunt for food instead of driving to Coles - stress might have saved you from a monstrous, raging bear. Or worse.

The once useful fight or flight survival mechanism that kept our ancestors alive, has evolved into a stressful version of its former self.

Studies have shown that chronic stress is the common link between the six leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide.

So how has this evolutionary feature turned into something that is literally KILLING us?

To understand how to effectively combat stress, we need to first understand WHY stress is so prevalent throughout our modern society.

A survey of more than 3000 everyday adults by the American Psychological Association showed that a typical adult rates their stress level at 4.9 out of 10 during everyday life. (1 being your spiritual yoga teacher and 10 being the angry old guy at the traffic lights.)

But seriously, long work hours, poor sleep patterns, massive amounts of pressure from work and a diet consisting of easy takeaways can have a serious impact on both mental and physical health.

Everyone knows the feeling of stress, but very few know how to effectively counteract the effects.

Freedom Camp 2018

5 Days of Mind+Body practice to feel more free within yourself, with Benny Fergusson

Are you interested in cultivating more freedom, flexibility and flow in the way you move and express yourself?

In discovering deep mind+body principles and practices that go beyond what you’d see in a regular Yoga class, to help you rise above your physical, mental and emotional challenges?

And in growing deeply as a person?

Hi, Benny Fergusson here.

Ever since I can remember I’ve been quite a sensitive person who feels a lot within me, and others. Some have referred to me as an empath. This created many challenges for me earlier in life.

To understand the intense feelings that were going on inside of me, I embarked on a journey to explore how my mind & body connection influenced the way I experience each moment of life.

My journey began with stronger physical practices like sports, body weight training and martial arts. Over time I expanded into more subtle internal practices, focused around developing deeper awareness and meditative states in movement & stillness.

These seeds set me on a path of self-discovery to more deeply understand the physical vessel that we occupy, and inform the curriculum we teach over at Movement Monk (the project I founded).

But my biggest teacher to date came in the form of a spinal injury from a freak accident!

From that day, I couldn’t stand up straight or walk down the street without feeling agony. Chronic tension was acting like a restrictive layer that was present when I performed any physical activity.

It wasn’t until this moment that I got a direct experience of what it feels like to be highly restricted in my body.

This has given me deep insights when it comes to understanding what others are experiencing during physical & emotional challenges, and importantly how to move forward from this experience.

Fast forward a few challenging years, today my spine moves better than ever, and I love the way my body feels. I am more free and flexible in my body than I ever have been.

And as you may have guessed, teaching health and fitness coaches, martial artists, Yogi’s, injured folks (and everyone with a body) how to heal pain and tension, get more mind+body unity, energy and confidence (while balancing it with the rest of life) is my cup of tea.

And that’s what I’ll be sharing with you at Freedom Camp.

We'll be diving deep into many different forms of movement, somatic practices, creativity, embodiment, presence, trauma release, and so much more - all in a safe and light-hearted way, and in the breathtaking natural environment of Amara.

The intent is that what you’ll learn will support you to either kickstart or upgrade your own daily mind+body practice so that you can explore and expand your sense of freedom at physical, mental and emotional levels.

I look forward to sharing this transformative experience with you.

With aloha,

Benny Fergusson | Movement Monk

WHY RESIDENTIAL RETREATS

Practicing yoga in a natural environment, disconnected from your routine, is an opportunity to feel a deeper connection with yourself, the earth, the surroundings, and the universe. The practice of Kundalini Yoga helps us to recognise and to embrace the patterns, rhythms and cycles of nature. It gives you the possibility to better align your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels and experience a deeper sense of unity.

Joining the residential training Level 1 is a gift that you offer to yourself. It is an opportunity to create space for you to be, and not do. Away from your daily responsibilities, you increase your chance to encounter your deeper self. It is a time to observe, transform and integrate. Your own growth will be supported by a collective living space, with the possibility to serve each other and reconnect to our original nature, to give and to receive.

Being together in nature during the Level 1 Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training and sharing a collective yogic lifestyle for 22 days is very impactful. It is a source of inspiration and growth. These three residential modules are an immersion in the yogic teachings offering the optimum condition to deepen your practice, embrace positive habits, enter a transformational process and encounter your destiny.
